SUMMARY:Jornadas de Invierno | Otoneurología Contemporánea
DESCRIPTION:Estimados Amigos y Colegas\, \n​ \nCada cierto tiempo en la historia de la medicina emergen conocimientos que no solo hacen progresar una determinada disciplina sino que la transforman\, redibujando los paradigmas previamente imperantes en ella. \n​ \nEn mi impresión tenemos la fortuna de estar viviendo uno de estos momentos en el campo de la Otoneurología. Los avances de la última década tanto en el conocimiento de la fisiología cocleovestibular\, como en las herramientas tecnológicas que permiten estudiarla\, han generado enormes cambios en el abordaje clínico de los trastornos del vértigo\, el equilibrio y la audición. \n​ \nPor un lado es posible conocer con un nivel de detalle antes inimaginable la función del oído interno y sus vías neurales\, permitiendo caracterizar casos que previamente caían en un halo de misterio e incertidumbre. \n​ \nPero quizás más relevante\, el estado actual del conocimiento ha permitido ver la patología cocleovestibular con renovada y refrescante simpleza\, mirada que es fácil de adquirir apenas con algunas claves anamnésticas y elementos bien definidos de un examen físico sencillo de aprender. Así\, sin requerir de tecnología sofisticada\, es posible manejar de forma eficiente y rápida la inmensa mayoría de los cuadros otoneurológicos. \n​ \nEs en este contexto que me resulta tremendamente fascinante el desafío que me ha encomendado el directorio de la Sociedad Chilena de Otorrinolaringología\, de dirigir una nueva versión de nuestras tradicionales Jornadas de Invierno con la misión de recoger y compartir estos avances en la Otoneurología. \n​ \nUna de nuestras primeras decisiones que tomamos como comité directivo fue la de realizar este evento en conjunto con la Sociedad de Neurología\, Psiquiatría y Neurocirugía de Chile (SONEPSYN)\, reconociendo el profundo valor de un trabajo verdaderamente multidisciplinario para enfrentar la Otoneurología Contemporánea. De la misma forma hemos querido incluir desde la raíz de nuestro programa científico a otras profesiones médicas afines\, como la tecnología médica\, fonoaudiología\, psicología y kinesiología\, por nombrar algunas. \n\nDesde ya los invito entonces a acompañarnos del 1 al 3 de Agosto de 2018 en las Jornadas de Invierno: Otoneurología Contemporánea. \n\nUn cariñoso abrazo a todos\, \n\nHayo A. DESCRIPTION:Dear Friends and Colleagues\, \nFor the past 13 years\, it has been a highlight event in our department’s calendar to organise the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) ENT Instructional Course Fortnight\, a back-to-back series of ENT cadaveric dissection workshops helmed by renowned International and Local Faculty. Over the years\, the program has progressively expanded and covered more subspecialty areas and topics. Today\, it gives me great pleasure to announce that the SGH ENT Instructional Fortnight 2018 will be held from 3-20 August 2018 at Academia\, located within the SGH Outram Road campus.  \nThe courses are structured to be relevant and appealing to practicing surgeons as well as ENT Residents in various stages of training. We will retain flexibility to ensure that those with various levels of surgical expertise are given the opportunities that commensurate with their aspirations for the course\, with the possibility of performing advanced surgical dissections under supervision of the faculty. Many of these workshops have been running for numerous years\, such as the 22nd FESS and Skull Base Surgery Course and the 15thOtology and Neurotology Course. The program for these workshops have been refined through these many years to afford you the best educational hands on experience that you can have. \nI look forward to welcoming you to Singapore and to meeting you in person in August 2018!   \n \nProgramme

SUMMARY:SASMFOS 2018 Annual Congress
DESCRIPTION:On behalf of The South African Society of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgeons it gives us great pleasure to announce that the 2018 Annual congress of our society will take place from Thursday 09th August to Sunday 12th August 2018. The congress will be held at the Coastlands Umhlanga Hotel and Conference Centre in Umhlanga near Durban. \nThe Coastlands Umhlanga is situated in the heart of the commercial area of Umhlanga and a mere 20 minutes from King Shaka International Airport\, making it an ideal venue for the congress. The congress hotel is renowned for its friendly service and stylish attention to detail. Regular shuttles operate from the hotel to the popular shopping centers and entertainment areas in and around Umhlanga. The many options of the beaches of Umhlanga\, Umhloti and Durban are easily accessible and so are the shopping malls of Gateway and the new malls in Ballito. There are numerous high quality restaurants in the Umhlanga Village which has a vibrant atmosphere in the evenings. \nThis year’s congress will again allow our members and registrars to showcase their work as it is considered a local content congress. Members will be able to enter for the members’ prize and registrars’ research competition. There will also be an exciting array of other South African speakers. We will showcase 5-6 eminent Maxillofacial and Oral Pathologists on the opening day\, have a members’ day on the Friday\, and present a pain symposium on the Saturday and end of with implantology and ethics on the Sunday morning. \nThe Congress organizing committee consists of Vivesh Rughubar\, Rinus Beukes (treasurer)\, Wynand van der Linden\, Greg Boyes-Varley\, Jean Morkel (scientific)\, Doug Beere (scientific)\, Tom Cason and Ebi Fakir (Traders) and Mo Moolla. \nThe Scientific Committee welcomes abstract submissions i.e. oral and poster\, including entry into the scientific competitions. We encourage all members to participate and case studies are welcome. The Abstract forms will be available on the SASMFOS congress website and electronic online abstract submissions are welcomed http://www.sasmfos.org/congress.php \nCongress registration and hotel accommodation for congress delegates is being organized through OnScreen Conferences and Events. SUMMARY:DIHS (Dundee Institute for Healthcare Simulation) Temporal Bone One Day Course
DESCRIPTION:Course Director : \nMr Patrick Spielmann\, Consultant Otolaryngologist\, Ninewells Hospital\, Dundee \n\nTrainees from out with Scotland must book and pay for 2 courses in advance. This should be sufficient time to work through the manual\, however it is possible to book an extra day to finish work on the bone if required. The aim of this is to reduce bone wastage. \n\nA competency based 2 bone training manual has been devised so trainees can complete 10-12 dissections on each cadaveric Temporal Bone in a self-paced\, structured manner\, under direct supervision of Otological Trainers. SUMMARY:XVII Congreso Nacional de Enfermería ORL
DESCRIPTION:Estimados compañeros y amigos\, \nValladolid acogerá este año\, los días 4\, 5 y 6 de Octubre de 2018\, el XVII Congreso Nacional de Enfermería en Otorrinolaringología. Desde el comité organizador nos complacerá daros la bienvenida a nuestra ciudad\, quizás\, algo desconocida para algunos\, pero que estoy segura de que os sorprenderá y agradará por sus monumentos y museos\, su ambiente\, su gastronomía\, su universidad y su historia. \nBajo el lema: “Práctica clínica hacia la evidencia. Enfermería visible a través de las nuevas tecnologías”\, igual el comité científico que el organizador\, estamos trabajando con ilusión por elaborar un programa científico de interés general\, desde un enfoque multidisciplinar y plural\, buscando actualizar y compartir conocimientos científicos y experiencias e intentando avanzar en cuidados en ORL y salud aplicando e integrando en nuestra práctica clínica las posibilidades que nos abren nuevas tecnologías e\, incluso\, redes sociales. \nEn palabras de Azucena Santillán\, enfermera referente en el ámbito de la Investigación y de las Nuevas Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación: “No todas las enfermeras tienen la obligación de hacer avanzar la enfermería pero sí la tienen de no hacerla retroceder”. SUMMARY:XIX CURSO PRACTICO MULTIDISCIPLINARIO DE MICROCIRUGÍA
DESCRIPTION:Durante los días 17\, 18 y 19 de Octubre de 2018\, el Servicio de Neurocirugía del Complejo Asistencial Universitario de León juntamente con la Unidad de Investigación de dicho hospital van a celebrar el XIX Curso Teórico-Práctico de Microcirugía. \nEste curso\, referente dentro de la microcirugía a nivel nacional\, va dirigido tanto a residentes de Neurocirugía como de otras especialidades\, para su iniciación en técnicas microquirúrgicas tanto vasculares como nerviosas. También está orientado a cirujanos jóvenes de otras especialidades que tengan interés en el mundo de la microcirugía\, cuyo conocimiento es esencial para la puesta en práctica de técnicas quirúrgicas minimamente invasivas. \nEl curso tiene un carácter eminentemente práctico y durante el mismo se realizarán ejercicios supervisados en diferentes modelos\, tanto en nervio como vasculares en ratas Wistar. \nEl número de alumnos está limitado a 15. Tanto el Servicio de Neurocirugía como el Comité Organizador esperan recibiros en esta ciudad milenaria y cuna del parlamentarismo mundial.

DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPCIÓN\nEl programa incluye la disección en cadáver humano conservados en técnica de Thiel\, de los colgajos más habituales en cirugía reconstructiva\, especialmente aquellos más utilizados en la cirugía de cabeza y cuello. \nDIRIGIDO A\nSerá de especial interés para residentes y especialistas de cirugía maxilofacial\, cirugía de cabeza y cuello\, cirugía plástica\, otorrinolaringología y traumatología. \n\nMETODOLOGÍA PRÁCTICA\nTras la explicación teórica apoyada con vídeos en 3D y la demostración de la disección en cadáver\, el alumno podrá llevar a cabo la disección de los colgajos\, bajo la estrecha supervisión del profesorado. \n\nGRUPOS REDUCIDOS*\nHabrá un máximo de cuatro alumnos por cadáver\, para que todo el alumnado pueda llevar a cabo o asistir en la elevación de cada uno de los colgajos.\n* En función de cicatrices y cirugías previas en el donante

SUMMARY:69 Congreso nacional SEORL y XVII Congreso Hispano-Luso de ORL
DESCRIPTION:Queridos compañeros y amigos\, \nAl escribir estas líneas de invitación al Congreso anual de nuestra Sociedad que se celebrará este próximo mes de octubre en Madrid\, no he podido dejar de pensar en el querido y malogrado Carlos Ramírez\, presidente de la Comisión de Reuniones y Congresos\, cuya labor intentamos seguir en este Congreso. \nAdemás\, este es el último Congreso que organiza la actual Comisión Delegada\, por lo que es inevitable hacer balance de los dos Congresos anteriores (Sevilla-2016 y Madrid-2017) y pensar en cómo se desarrollará el de este año. Es indudable que gracias a la labor de toda la Comisión Delegada\, de la Junta Directiva y del Dr. Carlos Ramírez\, en ambos Congresos (2016 y 2017) se han batido récords de asistentes y participación de los socios. \nComo ya he comentado en otras ocasiones\, nuestro Congreso es el acto más importante de nuestra Sociedad. Es importante recordar los distintos objetivos que confluyen en el mismo. El primer objetivo es que todos los socios tengamos un espacio y un tiempo para dialogar sobre la Otorrinolaringología y Cirugía de Cabeza y Cuello. Un objetivo fundamental de esta Comisión Delegada ha sido priorizar esta participación de los socios\, considerando como elemento clave del Congreso las comunicaciones libres y los pósteres de los socios. \nEl segundo objetivo del Congreso es la formación continuada de todos nosotros. Para ello incluye un gran número de cursos instrucción\, talleres de trabajo y de conferencias impartidas por compañeros expertos y por los profesores invitados. Nuestra especialidad progresa a una gran velocidad\, y nuestro Congreso es un marco magnífico para actualizarse y también para conocer de primera mano los últimos avances. Este año contaremos con un magnífico elenco de profesores internacionales. Quiero señalar asimismo la importancia de los Socios de Honor\, este año distinguimos a los Profesores Francis Marchal (Ginebra) y Giuseppe Spriano (Roma): ambos tienen méritos curriculares muy importantes\, pero destacan por su pasión docente y sus relaciones con nuestro país. \nEl tercer objetivo\, y posiblemente el más importante\, es mantener el contacto personal entre nosotros. El Congreso es un marco excelente para conocernos mejor\, dialogar\, aumentar el compañerismo y cultivar la amistad. \nEl Congreso necesita y cuenta con la participación de las diferentes casas comerciales y la industria. Quiero agradecer sinceramente su presencia en el Congreso\, donde los socios tendrán ocasión de dialogar con ellos para conocer y compartir su búsqueda de innovación y mejora. \nEste año realizaremos juntamente con nuestro Congreso\, el XVII Congreso Hispano-Luso\, punto de encuentro profesional y cordial con nuestros colegas portugueses. La excelente relación y la colaboración entre ambas sociedades se mostrará una vez más en este evento. \nFinalmente\, quiero agradecer todo el trabajo de la Comisión Delegada\, la Junta Directiva\, las Comisiones Científicas y el personal de nuestra Sede para la preparación de este Congreso\, destacando la labor del Secretario General\, Dr. Mario Fernández quién además en esta ocasión acumula la labor de presidente de la Comisión de Reuniones y Congresos. \nMadrid\, además de todas las ventajas de su centralidad y facilidades de transporte\, ofrece innumerables atractivos para todos: historia\, cultura y gastronomía\, entre otras brillantes opciones. \n¡Madrid nos espera! \n  \n
