It will be held in Stockholm\, June 2-5\, 2018 under the patronage of Her Majesty the Queen of Sweden. \nWe have planned some very interesting days on the general theme “Together for the best of the child” discussing collaboration in different ways. Discussions\, panels\, round tables\, free paper sessions and simulations are planned to take us from basic science to hands-on training in an interactive and pleasant environment. \nAfter the previous meeting with warm nights in Lisbon we welcome you to take part in our “White nights”. DESCRIPTION:En esta edición\, el curso tendrá lugar en el Hospital Miguel Servet\, en colaboración con el Servicio de Otorrinolaringología de dicho hospital y con \nla cátedra de Anatomía de la Facultad de Medicina de Zaragoza.\n\nTenemos dos objetivos principales: en primer lugar\, definir los criterios diagnósticos de esta enfermedad y sus repercusiones cardiovasculares\,\nespecialmente al incorporar la somnoscopia (DISE) para determinar el nivel o niveles que causan la obstrucción de la vía aérea superior de los pacientes. En segundo lugar\, revisaremos las principales técnicas quirúrgicas que se han desarrollado últimamente\, como las faringoplastias\, la estimulación del hipogloso y la terapia miofuncional\, y discutiremos sus indicaciones y resultados.\n\nPor ello\, se trata de un curso teórico y práctico\, en el que\, además de conferencias magistrales\, los alumnos podrán participar en talleres prácticos y\ndesarrollar prácticas de disección en cadáver.\n\nAdemás\, contaremos con la presencia de auténticos expertos en el tema\, siendo esta una oportunidad única de aprender directamente de los maestros\, como los profesores Victor F. DESCRIPTION:It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the XXX Bárány Society Meeting to be held in Uppsala from Sunday\, June 10 through Wednesday\, June 13 2018\, in the prime of the summer\, when the sun barely sets in Scandinavia. It is our intention to follow the successful footsteps of the meetings in Buenos Aires (2014) and Seoul (2016). By saying that\, it is our clear vision that the meeting will offer everyone new insights in the field of oto-neurology and a great conference time. \nThe Bárány Society is an international interdisciplinary society founded 1960 with the intention to increase and diffuse the knowledge of oto-neurology and vestibular function. An important goal of the Bárány Society today is to facilitate contacts between basic scientists and clinicians engaged in vestibular research. Every six years the Bárány Society Meeting is revisiting Robert Bárány’s Uppsala. Uppsala offers a visit to a Scandinavian university city with a mixture of tradition and new cool design. In the quiet surroundings you can easily walk between your hotel and the venue. \nOur meeting will be held at the Uppsala Concert and Congress Hall in the center of Uppsala\, with a pre-congress teaching day at the Uppsala University Hospital the 10th of June as a part of the visit. Uppsala is situated in the vicinity of Stockholm and easily reached by train arriving from the international airport of Stockholm Arlanda (ARN). \nWe find it important to announce that members as well as non-members interested in oto-neurology are invited to this exciting event. During the meeting five prizes will be given for scientific achievements. The most prestigious prize is the Bárány Gold Medal that is awarded by the Medical Faculty\, at Uppsala University. It is awarded to “the author who during the last six-year period has published the most valuable work on the vestibular apparatus in the widest sense of this term”. The Bárány Society likes to encourage researchers and clinicians under the age of 40 to apply for the new prize\, Won-Sang Lee Award\, open to members and non-members. \nAny delegate wishing to present is invited to submit abstracts to us. The topics are being chosen in line with the subjects presented during the last meeting in Seoul. We will use our own conference app to ensure a safe and easy communication during the meeting. SUMMARY:XXXI Congreso Internacional de la Asociación Española de Logopedia\, Foniatría y Audiología e Iberoamericana de Fonoaudiología
DESCRIPTION:Bajo el lema de LOGOPEDIA: CONECTANDO CIENCIA Y PROFESIÓN\, el XXXI Congreso Internacional de la Asociación Española de Logopedia\, Foniatría y Audiología e Iberoamericana de Fonoaudiología se celebrará en Granada del 28 al 30 de Junio de 2018. \nNuestra ciudad cuenta con una importante historia en el campo de la Logopedia y la Audiología. En el año 1976 el Doctor Ciges creó en el entonces Hospital Clínico el Servicio de Logopedia y Foniatría\, solo precedido en España por el del Hospital de Sant Pau en Barcelona. En 1989 se realizaron en Granada los primeros implantes cocleares en el mismo hospital\, acción también pionera\, puesto que anteriormente sólo se había realizado este tipo de intervención en algunos hospitales privados. Y en el plano académico\, por supuesto\, tenemos que destacar las titulaciones universitarias de Diplomatura y Grado en Logopedia\, que se imparten desde 2004. \nJunto con esta trayectoria y más allá del tópico “embrujo de Graná”\, estamos en una ciudad pequeña\, acogedora\, con gran atractivo turístico y con un fuerte impulso universitario\, que acoge diversidad de actuaciones de tipo científico y cultural. The traces of this history and diversity can be followed as you walk through the city; through its Gothic Quarter\, built on the Roman ruins; through its art-nouveau Eixample district\, presided over by Gaudí’s exuberant architecture\, which at the same time reveals an ordered and rational urban layout. \nIn just over two decades\, Barcelona has completely transformed its range of facilities and attractions. SUMMARY:International Summer School | Transnasal Endoscopic Surgery
DESCRIPTION:Aim of this course\, which is now in its fourth edition\, is to off er an overview of the applications of trans-nasal endoscopic surgery\,\nstarting from simple procedures performed under local anesthesia to more extensive operations adopted for infl ammatory disease\,\nbenign and malignant sino-nasal tumors\, skull-base diseases\, sellar and parasellar lesions\, down to the clivus\, nasopharynx and craniovertebral junction. \nAlso thanks to the University of Brescia support\, the course will provide a hands-on session\, followed by an interactive live surgery section. \nThe first three days will be dedicated to the endoscopic endonasal dissection of injected\, fresh frozen specimens. At the Gross Anatomy Laboratory of the University of Brescia directed by Prof. Luigi F. Rodella each working station is complete of endoscopic skull base surgery equipment\, as well as CT-based navigation. Two participants and one observer will be assigned to each station and will be supervised by at least one faculty member to allow for a personalized tuition. Each step will be preceded by 3D-HD videos explained by the faculty members\, as well as demonstrations with 4K technology. \nThe following two days will be dedicated to live surgery\, with three running operating rooms\, in which diff erent operations will be shown and discussed step by step. As well as watching the operations from the connected meeting room\, participants and observers will have the chance of observing surgery directly in the OR. Lectures will be provided by the local and international faculty\, all recognized leaders not only in the fi elds of endonasal endoscopic surgery and endoscopic skull base surgery\, but also in other essential specialties\, such as radiology and pathology. \nAim of the course is indeed to provide a thorough journey in this exciting fi eld\, showing the importance of multidisciplinarity\, from the\nanatomy laboratory to the clinical\, multispecialty collaboration. Five intense days are awaiting for you with the chance of interacting directly and informally with world experts in the fi eld. The course includes an informal social dinner with all faculty and participants on Thursday July 12th.
