SUMMARY:9th Singapore Allergy & Rhinology Conference
DESCRIPTION:9TH SARC 2018 & 5TH SARC FESS WORKSHOP\nDear Friends and Colleagues\, \nOn behalf of the Organising Committee\, it gives us great pleasure to invite you to the 9th Singapore Allergy and Rhinology Conference (SARC)\, the 5th SARC FESS Workshop and the 2nd SARC Transoral Endoscopic Thyroidectomy Workshop. \nSARC has grown from year to year\, with well over 441 participants & faculty members from 33 countries in 2017. As the premier regional forum on Allergy and Rhinology\, we are proud to offer a variety of platforms for participants with different backgrounds to engage\, to share and to learn from distinguished international faculty as well as colleagues from around the region. The popularity of SARC stems from its unique combination of didactic lectures and discussion panels covering both the fundamentals and most recent advancements in our discipline. Participants have the opportunity to learn from the experts and then to discuss how ideas can be incorporated into their unique healthcare environments. Since its introduction\, there has been enthusiastic reception for the regional research forum and we want to encourage greater participation and competitiveness as we plan for 2018. With the variety of options\, we are certain that you will find the SARC 2018  engaging and inspiring\, whether you are an ENT specialist or surgeon-in-training\, medical specialist\, general practitioner or nurse practitioner. \nIn previous years\, we have been honoured to host key opinion leaders from USA\, Europe\, Australia\, Asia and the Middle East. SARC 2018 promises to be even better. The Allergy programme will again be helmed by Professor Joachim Mullol (Spain) and A/Professor Matthew Ryan (USA). In Rhinology\, we are excited to welcome Professor Peter Hellings (Belgium) and Dr Amber Luong (USA)\, both at the forefront of Rhinology practice and research. World-renown pioneer in endoscopic skull base surgery (ESBS)\, Professor Ricardo Carrau (USA)\, will undoubtedly bring a new dimension into the scope of the conference. \nThe SARC FESS Workshop gets bigger each year under the guidance of A/Professor Dharambir Sethi. In addition to bringing the very best of international faculty\, we are committed to participants having maximum dissecting time with almost one-to-one mentoring. For the latter\, we owe no small tribute to the dedication and support of our local and international faculty. With increasing levels of experience amongst our participants\, we have decided to augment the proportion of time for advanced endoscopic techniques. In 2018\, we are indeed thrilled to have Professor Carrau & Professor Hellings as the key international instructors. \nIn line with the vision to showcase the best of the surgical innovation in the region and to build on scope of endoscopic surgery in ENT\, 2017 marked the 1st cadaveric workshop on transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy in Singapore. We are greatly privileged to have Dr Angkoon Anuwong (Thailand)\, the foremost authority on this novel scarless technique\, to lead in this workshop again in 2018. We plan to expand this course to include live surgical demonstration to showcase the technique. \nAs we move closer to the SARC 2018\, we encourage you to keep your eyes on the website for updates in the programme. We look forward to seeing you in Singapore in May 2018! \nDr Leong Jern-Lin\nOrganising Co-Chairman\n9th SARC 2018 &\n5th SARC FESS Workshop \nProf Wang De Yun\nOrganising Co-Chairman\n9th SARC 2018 \nDr David Chin\nOrganising Co-Chairman\n5th SARC FESS Workshop \n  \n2ND SARC TRANSORAL ENDOSCOPIC THYROIDECTOMY WORKSHOP\n\n\nDear Friends and Colleagues\, \nIt gives me great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2nd SARC Transoral Thyroidectomy Cadaveric Dissection Course.\n\nThe 1st SARC transoral course\, held on the 8th May 2017 was held with great success. Our honoured international speakers Dr Angkoon Anuwong and Dr Gianlorenzo Dionigi\, together with our local faculty\, shared many pearls on how to perform this emerging technique safely and effectively. We were excited to welcome many participants from all over the world\, including Australia\, Hong Kong\, Indoneisa\, Italy\, Jordan\, Malaysia\, Myanmar\, Pakistan\, Saudi Arabia\, Taiwan\, Vietnam and Singapore. \nIt is clear that with the right indications and patient selection\, transoral thyroidectomy is a viable and efficient technique for scarless thyroidectomy. \nFollowing the resounding success of the 1st course\, we have begun planning for the 2nd SARC transoral thyroidectomy cadaveric dissection course in Singapore. For 2018 \, we would like to introduce a  2 day course. \nThe first day will feature live surgey performed by Dr Angkoon Anuwong\, the world leader in transoral thyroidectomy. The second day will feature dynamic lectures\, as well as cadaveric dissection under close supervision of international and local faculty. An expert panel discussion on difficult aspects of this surgery will be featured. The course brings together a one stop and one time assimilation of state of art expertise in transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy\, vestibular approach.\n\nWe look forward to welcoming you all to this course that will equip you with the necessary skills to embark on this new and exciting technique! \nDr Lim Ming Yann\nOrganising Chairman\n2nd SARC Transoral Endoscopic Thyroidectomy Workshop \n\n\n\n
