4th Manchester Sinus & Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Course

diciembre 2, 2019 @ 8:00 am - diciembre 4, 2019 @ 5:00 pm

* THIS EVENT IS NOT ORGANIZED BY SBORL

Dear Colleague,

The 3rd course has now closed. It booked up incredibly quickly.  My sincere gratitude goes out to my expert faculty for their participation in making this another superb course, intensive and highly educational.  Feedback from participants was excellent and will be shared shortly. As well as Consultant and senior trainee delegates from across the UK, other countries represented at this course were Norway, Sweden, Austria, Italy, Dubai, Greece, USA and Israel. Past courses have attracted delegates from Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Kuwait, New Zealand and the USA.

As a result of the success of this course, it is my pleasure to present the 4th Manchester Advanced Sinus and Endoscopic Skull Base Dissection Course to be held at the University of Manchester, UK.  This 3-day course will bring together another excellent faculty, with national and international reputations for their enthusiasm in teaching and education in all aspects of rhinological surgery and extended approaches to the ventral skull base.

The course will focus on the extended applications of endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery with the use of powered instrumentation.  The high quality instruments are the same as those used by the faculty in their day-to-day practices, and are supplied by Karl Storz and Medtronic.  It is expected that applicants will have experience in performing uncinectomy, anterior and posterior ethmoidectomy, and sphenoidotomy prior to registering for this course. The aim of this course is two-fold: to enthuse and further educate budding or experienced endoscopic ventral skull base surgeons and/or to give the Sinus or Neuro- Surgeon anatomical confidence outwith the compartment that they normally work, essential for being the highest quality endoscopic sinus or endoscopic neurosurgeon you can be.

The course is a collaboration between Manchester University Foundation Trust and the University of Manchester, and will be held at the world-class training facility the Manchester Surgical Skills and Simulation Centre , based at the University of Manchester Medical School. The course is aimed at ENT and Neurosurgery Consultants wishing to develop their advanced endoscopic sinus and ventral skull base surgery skills, senior Specialist Trainees in Otolaryngology and Neurosurgery, experienced Associate Specialists and Trust Grades, and Advanced Fellows in Otolaryngology and Neurosurgery. The course is too advanced for junior trainees, who may wish to look at the core course annually in June.

The course will consist of powerpoint lectures in important subjects related to the paranasal sinuses and ventral skull base but, will mainly focus on surgical anatomy, demonstrations and techniques. Fresh frozen specimens will be used. The faculty and delegates can make full use of the excellent teaching aids present in the anatomy laboratory at the medical school.

The course fee includes full hands-on dissection with a high ratio of expert faculty, refreshments, hot lunch, and course dinners on Monday and Tuesday. The dinner on Monday evening is informal, which is also included in your fee. Hotel fee is not included. The official course language is English. The number of dissector places is strictly limited and on a first-come first-served basis.

Unfortunately, your place can only be confirmed once your payment is received by the Course Administrator. Payments that are not received within 10 working days of your application will result in your name being removed from the reservation list and your place being released to other applicants. Please note, demand for places on this course is extremely high, which has necessitated this approach to payment.

We look forward to welcoming you to Manchester!

With kind regards,

Mr Omar Pathmanaban  PhD  FRCS

Course Co-Director

Consultant Neurosurgeon and Skull Base Surgeon

Department of Neurosurgery and Manchester Skull Base Unit, Salford Royal Hospital, Salford, UK
